How to install a bathroom roof vent.
The lower half of the flange sits on top of the shingles.
Climb into the attic and clear away any insulation from around the hole.
Turn your vent upside down and apply a thick bead of caulk to the flange.
Center the nail between two rafters.
Apply a bead of asphalt roof cement on the bottom of the vent.
For optimum performance locate it between the shower and the toilet.
Simply slide the vent under shingles to do so.

On the bottom of the vent you need to spread some asphalt roof cement next.
Nail the lower corners with roofing nails and tar the heads.
Connect the red wire to one switch terminal and the black wire to the other terminal.
For a fan and light switch with existing wiring splice the white wires and connect the grounds securely with wire.
Over there mount the vent hood using tri polymeric locking seal paste and put the nails to strengthen it.
Connect power to both switches through two pigtails spliced to the feed wire.
Next hammer in a nail every few inches to secure the vent to your roofing structure.
Draw a mark on the bathroom ceiling where you d like to install the vent fan.
From the roof find the nail and use the utility knife to cut roof shingles from around the nail.
From inside the attic drive a nail through the roof directly above the bathroom vent fan.
Slide the vent under the shingles so they cover the top half of the vent flange.

Then drill a hole on the roof top.
The top half of vent flange needs to be covered.
