Today i m going to show you how to convert a wall mounted light fixture into one with an electric plug on it so that it can be plugged into the wall.
How to convert plug in lamp to wall mount.
Last saturday night at around ten p m as i was leaving the french farm house to go home to my current house i tripped over a box trying to make it from the dining room through the breezeway.
Plus it had to be mounted to a movable piece of furniture it wasn t going to be mounted to a wall.
The light fixture has a black or red wire which is a hot lead a white wire which is a neutral lead and sometimes a bare or copper wire which is a ground.
The 2 side holes are the screw holes where the light will be mounted to the metal mount and wall unit bookcase.
Attach the metal mount to the backside of the bookcase or wall unit.
I wanted to use this inexpensive 26 exterior nautical style sconce but it was designed to be hardwired into the wall i wanted to be able to plug it in instead.
The conversion procedure involves connecting the fixture s wires to a length of lamp cord which is then plugged into a regular wall outlet.
Using wire cutters cut both cords the one coming from the fixture and the one from the lamp cord 1 2 longer than you need them.
